Part III of the 3-part series familiarizing the community with the upcoming release of the Testnet (Shin 殉星).
Part III of our series in which we dive deeper into the features of our Testnet. In this article, we will introduce the user-facing items that support the Dusk Network Testnet (Shin 殉星).
To recap, Part I of the series had discussed the high-level details, including the consensus protocol and the privacy features. Part II of the series outlined the technical components that are part of Dusk Network Testnet (Shin 殉星) and discussed the features to be added in the consequent iterations of the Testnet.
Our Testnet is set to launch on the 26th of July 2019!
Dusk Network Testnet Faucet
Dusk Network Testnet Faucet is a web-interface that enables users to claim the Testnet DUSK tokens (tDUSK). Anybody who wants to draw tokens for testing purposes can claim tDUSK in two simple steps:
- Send out a tweet containing your Dusk-wallet address.
- Copy-paste the tweets URL into the above input box and fire away!
The Dusk Network Testnet Faucet can only be utilized to claim tDUSK for the Dusk Network Testnet. The DUSK tokens obtained from the faucet are for testing purposes only, have no “real-world” value and therefore in no way constitute a replacement for the “real DUSK tokens.
Dusk Network CLI Wallet
The Dusk Network CLI Wallet comes bundled with the node implementation enabling the user to transfer, bid and stake tDUSK tokens within the Dusk Network Testnet. The GUI wallet, which is a user-friendly wallet focussed on user experience, will be made available closer to the Dusk Network Mainnet launch. Any GUI wallet requires excellent design, however, in the specific case of Dusk Network, the wallet also needs to be built with the support of additional modules to facilitate the use of the XSC standard and the dApps.
Dusk Network Monitoring Tool
Dusk Network Monitoring Tool helps visualize the important events happening during the execution of the protocol. The fact that the Testnet usage is constantly monitored assists the team in running diagnostics on the network and supports our research team who utilize the statistics to evaluate the cryptoeconomic models. Visualization is done per node, and can also provide insights in case a certain event needs troubleshooting.
Telegram Bot
We will soon introduce our Telegram bot that feeds the logs produced by the Testnet upon required. It can be used by our developers, and the community to get real-time Testnet updates. The telegram bot forwards these messages directly to the Telegram client.
