Dusk Ecosystem Roadmap Update - Towards Incentivized TestNet
By Mels Dees

Apr 14, 2021

In the next phase, we’re working towards the release of Dusk Network’s Incentivized Testnet, a multi-stage public testing event designed to properly test the network before it is launched. Check out our upcoming goals from now till the beginning of June.

This Ecosystem Roadmap Update follows the previous Ecosystem roadmap. The full E2E Release Candidate schedule can be found here.

The 9th of April marked the end of the previous period which ended with a bang at DuskCon, the first ever Dusk Conference. At DuskCon, we not only revealed ‘Reinforced Concrete’ , the most efficient in-circuit hashing function to date, but also our willingness to spur Dusk Network’s growth by opening up a USD $5M Grant Fund.

And it wasn’t just that, the past two months were lined-up with all sorts of announcements; ranging from strategic partnerships with ANKR & Harmony, as well as more technical releases (Whitepaper v3.0). In addition, we shared various updates related to Governance and the Governance Council, with industry experts Andrej Zwitter and Bas Kortenhoff joining the Dusk Network as advisors. DUSK even became available in the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem, with subsequent listings on the Binance Bridge and PancakeSwap.

Forward: New ecosystem roadmap

First of all, the Ecosystem Roadmap was created to involve all of its stakeholders in our plans to grow the Dusk Network Ecosystem. If you are part of an organization that is building decentralized & financial applications or hosting nodes, then this is a good time to reach out to us.

So, without further ado, let us paint a broad-stroke picture of where we’re headed!

On the 16th of April, we’ll participate in an AMA powered by Binance. The AMA provides a great opportunity to address the wider community’s questions, specifically in regards to the preparations for Incentivized Testnet & the role of the Grant Program in the growth of the Dusk Ecosystem.

In addition, more information will be shared about our plans for the Incentivized TestNet (ITN) in April. At DuskCon, we already announced our plan to open up the ITN once we achieve 500K blocks on the E2E RC. In the coming period we look forward to sharing more about all the things we aim to test, the phases we’re planning, our goals, the rewards, and how you can participate. Stay tuned!

The Block Explorer is currently being migrated to SvelteKit, and improved with input from the QA group. We aim for its release towards the end of April.

We’re looking to extend the utility of the Dusk Portal, specifically to increase the ways the community can be involved, opening up documentation and the webshop.

BiAnnual Report, May 4. May the force be with you. It’s that time of the year again. We’ll be releasing another BiAnnual Report for all Dusk Stakeholders to be able to get a quick digest of everything that’s been going on and where we’re headed.

And of course, there will be more Ecosystem Growth. Both in April and May, we are planning to grow the presence of Dusk Network in the realms of DeFi, privacy-wrapping of assets, involving community developers, node partners, and more.

We have big ambitions with the Dusk Grants Program, we will officially open for applications on the 1st of June, but ahead of that date, we welcome serious builders to send us a message!
