Daybreak, the public testnet of Dusk Network, will launch on February 1, 2022. In this post, we provide a brief status update.
Core protocol developers and contributors are working tirelessly to include as many features as possible in next week's launch. As more features are integrated, we are occasionally still challenged in terms of network stability. Particularly, the integration of RUSK with the Node is an area subject to continued testing. This is of great importance, as network stability is vital for the health of the public testnet.
Our expectation remains that Daybreak is still on schedule for a Feb. 1st launch, but we want to be very transparent and say upfront that, depending on the outcome of tests over the coming days, we might have to initially start the network by running a closed cluster of nodes, before branching out with community-run nodes shortly after. We will communicate timely when people on the waitlist are able to launch their own nodes.
Finally, the same integration mentioned above also serves to supply some of the data fields to the Block Explorer. This means that the initial launch version of the Block Explorer may not display all of the data fields yet. It will, however, provide a very good overview of the network’s stability, its block times, and more. Transaction details such as fees paid per transaction will be added in the next release cycles.
We are working hard to resolve any last-minute challenges, and the team is committed and determined to release testnet on time, with the features mentioned in this article intact.
Thank you for your continuous support as we launch Daybreak. We are very excited about what’s coming and we’re grateful to have you with us as we develop the leading privacy blockchain for smart contracts.
