Mainnet is almost here! The first immutable blocks will be produced tomorrow. This marks a major milestone and is just the beginning. With mainnet in place, Dusk has a clear roadmap for 2025 to bring our vision of privacy, compliance, and decentralized finance to life. Here’s what’s coming next.

Q1 2025: Real World Adoption

The first quarter of 2025 is all about establishing key components of the network and creating opportunities for real-world adoption. Here’s what to expect:

  • Mainnet: Mainnet officially goes live tomorrow, producing its first immutable blocks, offering the foundation for secure and private financial applications.
  • Hyperstaking: Hyperstaking unleashes programmability of staking. It is a novelty of Dusk akin to “Account Abstraction” where smart contracts can implement custom logic to handle stakes. This unlocks endless possibilities: privacy-preserving staking, affiliate programs, delegation, liquid staking, yield boosting, and way more. 
  • Zedger Beta: Launching the Zedger Asset protocol with full specifications, which focuses on privacy-preserving compliant asset tokenization, issuance and management alongside a beta version for testing with partners.
  •  Lightspeed: Unveiling the L2 network interoperable with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. That’s right, the whole EVM-compatible ecosystem can now build, interoperate, and settle on Dusk!
  • Dusk Pay: MiCA compliant electronic money transfers and payment network designed for business cases that require stablecoins and higher regulatory compliance. 

 

Phase 2: Asset Tokenization

The second phase focuses on partnerships and tools to bring more users and businesses into the ecosystem:

  • Custodian Integration: Custodian Integration: Dusk integrates with selected custodian banks to enable institutions to use the network for regulated finance, and in order to implement trust-minimized clearance and settlement for securities and digital cash.
  • NPEX Asset Tokenization: All assets under NPEX management ($300M+) are now tokenized on Dusk, bringing traditional financial products on-chain, and incept DLT operations on a regulated exchange operating with real-world financial assets.
  • ZK KYC/AML: Using Citadel, our bespoke privacy-preserving licensing tool, Zero-Knowledge technology will be used to remove the KYC and AML hurdle from onboarding digital asset investors into the real-world finance, thus reconciling privacy with regulatory compliance (i.e. DORA, GDPR, Mifid and MiCA regulations).

 

Phase 3: Regulated Finance

Once integrations are in place, the focus shifts toward scaling use-cases and creating more utility for the DUSK token:

  • MiCA CEX on NPEX: MiCA regulation will be implemented on NPEX, making DUSK the central exchange utility token and expanding its role within the ecosystem. CEXes have long outperformed traditional trading platforms, imagine a crypto-like CEX for real-world assets, complete with low fees and an intuitive UX, making TradFi more accessible!
  • Trust minimized Clearance & Settlement: This feature will combine traditional and blockchain-based systems for faster, atomic, more efficient and secure transaction settlements of tokenized assets. It’s a great solution that brings atomic transactions, 24/7 trading, fractional asset trading to regulated partners like brokers, market-makers, asset management organizations, ETF providers, institutional investors, etc.
  • Privacy-preserving Payment: Bringing privacy and scalability to Dusk Pay.

 

Phase 4: Decentralized Market Infrastructure

The final phase is about delivering the complete vision of Dusk, defining new directions for assets and new, better ways to trade & hold them:

  • Full Zedger: The Zedger system will be fully operational, enabling privacy-preserving asset issuance, clearance, and settlement. 
  • ETF Launch: Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) will debut on Dusk, opening new investment opportunities. While the BTC ETF was a huge step forward, issuing ETFs on-chain is the next step.
  • Full On-Chain Issuance, Clearance & Settlement: The network will achieve its goal of providing a complete, end-to-end solution for issuing and managing assets entirely on-chain. This is the end game; a DLT-based financial ecosystem.
